Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Good teachers admit they make mistakes or don’t know something.
【解题思路】
☀首先在答题时，要学会替换题目中的表达。“承认错误”可以用 admit mistakes 表达, 也可以用 own to a mistake 或者 acknowledge a mistake.
☀如果同意“老师应该承认错误”这个观点，支撑理由可以从承认错误的好处这个角度去阐述。拓展思路总结出的“好处”有三点：
1. create an opportunity to facilitate students’ learning
2. earn students’ trust and respect
3. show students that mistakes can be positive and lead to innovations.
☀对应的答题示范：
1.Teachers’ job is to facilitate learning, not to show the class how smart they are. By owning to a mistake, a teacher can create an opportunity for students to discuss the mistake the teacher made in the class, which can make an acquisition of knowledge more engaging and memorable. It is also an opportunity for creative and critical thinking where students discuss how did the teacher make that mistake and how to rectify it.
2.If a teacher tries to claim he/she is infallible, suddenly the classroom becomes a battleground with a room full of young eyes desperately searching for an “Aha!” moment that they can pick up on. Nobody wants to respect and trust the person who denies his mistakes. Admitting a mistake and following up with a plan to correct it is the tools a teacher can use to earn students’ trust.
