Task1

Some people think that universities should let students decide on a career in a particular field before they enter college while others think that schools should ask students to take some lessens before deciding their future career. Which do you prefer and why? Please include reasons and details in your explanation.

I prefer to take some lessons before deciding on my major. First, most senior high school students have limited knowledge of majors and careers. Few of them know what their interests are since what they learnt in high school were quite basic and they were busy with their college entrance exams. So it’s blind to choose majors without any study of the major or the relevant social experiences. Then, a year of broad education in grade one may give them sufficient time to think over what they are passionate about and what they are good at. Or they may rush into some areas which they would regret about over time, let alone the challenge in changing majors.

Task1

When going on a vacation in a different city, some people prefer to go camping in a tent, while others prefer to stay at a hotel . Which would you prefer and why? Please include reasons and details in your explanation.

I prefer to go camping in a hotel. First, I think camping in a tent is unsafe. When we are going on a vacation in a different city which we are not familiar with, it’s really risky to pitch a tent without knowing too much about the local climate. Campers will be frightened by the extreme weather such as thunderstorm or heavy fog. And even we’ve heard a lot about wild animals’ attacking human beings at campsites for tents in a national forest. On the contrary, living in a hotel is not only safe but also convenient. We don’t have to take along all the camping facilities including tents, quilt, pan and other necessary tools. So staying in a hotel which is well-equipped is much more comfortable. Then after getting good rest in a hotel we can make sure to enjoy our vacation more.

Task1

When traveling in an unfamiliar place, some people prefer to use smartphones or other navigational devices to get around or find other places. Others prefer to explore on their own and ask others for directions when necessary. Which would you prefer and why? Please include reasons and details in your explanation.

When it comes to finding ways in traveling, definitely I will choose to use the electronic map in my smart cellphones . First,it is very efficient and reliable. Taking the Google map or Baidu map for example, I frequently use them when traveling, the moment I input the place to be found, the instant the map tells me the nearest route, the estimated time needed and the possible transportation I may take. That’s all what I want! Very efficient! However, if asking others, one is that I may not find people in certain places; the other is that person whom I ask may not be able to give such specific information as the Google map or Baidu map does.
