题目解析：

这道题考察的是考频较高的教育类话题，考察的是大学专业选择，但是在具体题目中又涉及到了工作问题。TPO和历年真题中对于大学生选课方面的考察非常多，比如：20190224；20190907；20201023。另外，这道题和20200829的真题非常的类似，一道考察大学生是否应该选择和高薪工作相关的专业，一道考察小学生是否应该选择重要的活动去参与。

该题是一道二选一类型的题目，因此考生在写作过程中要注意进行对比论证。

Decision-making can be considered as the most crucial factor for one’s success: a appropriate one contributes to a triumph, while the vice versa. One of the determining decisions in life is the major to study in university. Some propose that whether the major can bring about a lucrative career is an important element to weigh, while I contend that choosing the major that interests one is better, and my reasons will be illustrated in the following paragraphs.

The interest in a major is the motivator to push one to explore the field both academically and in future career. Learning about an unfamiliar field in university is an quite energy-consuming and tedious process when students are forced to going through professional and hard-to-understand papers; carrying out complicated and difficult-to-operate experiment; not to mention that they also need to put abstract theory into practice in future career.Those obstacles may render those less mature youngsters to give up and waste their precious time in college. This is where the interest in the major works. When one finds a theory to be too obscure, it is his interest that stimulates him to find more references to boost his understanding; when he is faced with obstruction in future work, the interest comes as the encouragement to boost his performance. Take myself as an Example: as a student majored in English in university, I always found understanding English Grammar was a challenge because the language is full of “exceptions” in forms. However, my interest in linguistics pushed me to spend most of my time studying grammar books from different publishers and concluded linguistic phenomena from all the sources I could get, from formally published papers to TV series. Until now, the interest still pushes me to work hard in my career as an English teacher.

Some in favor of choosing the major that leads to profitable career may argue that only by earning sufficient money can one lead a cozy life and create desirable living environment for his family. However, they may ignore the fact that choosing the major that interests one does not necessarily mean that one could not make profit out of it. As a matter of fact, one’s passion for his major or career can, in turn, create more profit. Well goes a Chinese ancient saying, “There are three hundred and sixty trades, and every trade has its master.” As the saying puts it, whichever field one works in, as long as he is willing to explore further and devotes more effort in to it, he can be proficient and play a leading role in the field, which makes any career rewarding ultimately. For example, a painter, though not being considered as rewarding major and career, can sell his work in a high price only if he is motivated to master skills to paint in university, turning his works into a unique and fancy ones. Conversely, a house real estate agent, which seems to be a lucrative career, may not make a fortune in the career, because he is not passionate over learning related skills on campus or promoting the house.

To put it in a nutshell, choosing the major that one is interested in is more important than the one leading to a profitable career because the former brings about passion to explore the field and also leads to promising future.
