T2 Development of technology cause environmental problems. Some people think people should choose a simpler way of life. Others think that we should use technology to solve these problems. Discuss both view and give your opinion.

Technology has been playing an essential part in enhancing living standard but meanwhile it is also a trigger for environmental problems. In order to tackle this alarmingly serious issue, it is suggested by many that simplified lifestyle should be a feasible solution while some others hold the best choice to fight against this problem is to resort to technology itself. I tend to place both as of equal significance.

Some of the environment-related problems emerged from human activities is to blame on advanced technology and it is important to prevent further environmental deterioration by means of living a simpler life with less involvement of technology. Firstly, living a low carbon life contributes to curbing global warming. For example, taking more public transportation rather than driving around in private cars helps, to some extent, reduce carbon emissions and greenhouse effect. In addition, minimizing the amount of disposable products is a good choice of leading a greener life. Instead of using some of these products like plastic bags, recyclable products will be much easy to dispose of and is unlikely to cause as much soil and water pollution. Moreover, it is possible to save waters from chemical pollution by using less artificial chemicals, since such pollutants, be them toxic or not, will exert negative impacts on the environment.

However, it does not mean that advanced technology itself is futile, especially in this fast-paced world. Quite the opposite, technology have to be utilizes to tackle environmental problems. On the one hand, cleaner fuels and new energy need to be developed. The technology is already available to produce electric cars that are environment friendly. On the other hand, technology should also be extended to deal with the existing pollutants released from various industries and factories, especially before the hazardous chemicals discharged into the atmosphere or into lakes and rivers.   

From the above discussion, it is not difficulty to draw a conclusion that it is a comprehensive task to tackle the environmental problems, and only through the joint effort of individuals’ participation in living a simpler life as well as making the utmost of the advanced technology, can environmental problems be solve more constructively.
