很多雅思考鸭都知道雅思听力里有两大重要解题技能就是定位和定性。定位是根据卷面上的关键词（往往是名词）找到题目答案出现的位置，而定性是通过听前的预测将答案的范围缩小以便更准确的寻找到答案。但仅仅掌握这两项技能就能攻克雅思听力吗？高手往往都有一两种秘密武器才能成为高手，而想在雅思听力中取得高分就需要能合理使用其中一种秘密武器——信号词。

什么是信号词呢？在生活中，当我们要过马路时，为了保证自己的安全，大家会谨记一条交通规则：红灯停，绿灯行。所以交通信号灯就是保护我们安全的重要指引。而雅思听力中尤其是选择题处处都是陷阱，这时候就需要一些类似交通信号灯的信号词来指引我们避开陷阱。

例如C8-T1-S1, Q1George wants to sit at the back so they can

   A  see well

   B  hear clearly

   C  pay less

录音：The only problem is there aren’t any cheap seats… it’s all one price.

Well, in that case we could sit right at the front – we’d have a really good view.

Yeah, though I think that if you sit at the back you can actually hear 

the whole thing better.

从录音稿中我们可以发现三个选项在录音中都有提到，很多同学就会感到一头雾水，不知该选哪个。但我们不难发现录音中aren’t这类表示否定的信号词后面的cheap seats是被否定了的，所以C选项就不对。而though这种表示转折的信号词后面的hear the whole thing better和B选项刚好是同义替换，所以是正确答案。

由此我们可以总结出否定信号词就属于红灯词，跟在其后的往往是陷阱。而转折信号词属于绿灯词，跟在其后的往往是重点信息。

信号词之红灯词：

表否定关系：排除被否定的信息

no, not, none, never, neither, hardly, rarely, seldom, barely, too…to, rather than, instead of, unlike, etc.

例如:C4-T3-S2, Q14Where does Circus Romano perform?

    A in a theatre

    B in a tent

    C in a stadium

录音：The first is Circus Romano from Italy. As this is a travelling circus, it follows 

a long tradition by performing in a marquee—— which is really like a canvas portable building, usually put up in a green space

or car park, rather than in a theatre or stadium.

录音中同样是三个选项都有提到，但A和B选项都在rather than这个否定信号词后，所以C才是正确答案。

表转折关系：重点信息在其后

What’s the main purpose of having the Rare Breeds Section?

    A to save unusual animals

    B to keep a variety of breeds

    C to educate the public

录音：These are very popular with the public but of course we mustn’t lose sight of the main purpose of having this section, not as such to preserve 

rare animals but to maintain the diversity of breeds to broaden the gene pool 

for agricultural development.

录音中首先提到了preserve rare animals和A选项是相同的意思，但前面有个红灯词not, 所以A选项被排除了。而紧接着录音中就出现了but这个绿灯词，后面的maintain the diversity of breeds 和B选项的keep a variety of breeds 就是个同义替换，所以是正确答案。

由上面这几道题，我们可以看出信号词这个秘密武器还是相当好用的，但要用好武器首先还需要打牢基本功，所以广大考鸭们在平时还是要多练习精听，加强对信号词的敏感度，合理使用这个秘密武器。
