北美考试院托福口语组 谭哲谦

2021年个月，一共六场考试。独立题的话题与之前有一定的重复，也有一些新的话题变形，场考试1.9提问与2016年场考试问题相同，“娱乐名人是否应该成为青少年的榜样”。此类话题同学们可以就名人影响的哪些方面进行展开答题。中上旬的考试，有一些“成功学”的话题，想要拥有成功的人生是否一定要热爱自己的工作，想要成为成功的运动员，是天分更重要还是努力更重要等等，这些题目其实都可以看作是“成功因素”的相关话题，与往年题目有共同之处，往年考题中也有问到“想要成为成功的艺术家，是talent更重要还是hardwork更重要。

Do you agree or disagree that a celebrity should set a good example for young people? Use details and examples to support your explanation.

题目解析：

关于名人的影响一直是一个热门的社会问题，首先我们要清晰了解到核心单词“celebrity”，在柯林斯词典中，英英释义是：Someone who is famous, especially in areas of entertainment such as films, music, writing or sport. 所以celebrity 特指文体名人。明星们对社会问题作出的贡献，除了慈善捐款之外，举例时可以谈谈某个影视中作品如《少年的你》，在反对校园暴力上做出了卓越的影响。结合这个例子，参考范文A,如果不同意这个观点，可以说很多娱乐明星会做一些不恰当的事情，影响正在形成认知的青少年辨别是非的能力。

I agree with it. Celebrities should recognize that they have a big following and can greatly influence the public. They should try to set good examples for the youth who are highly impressionable.They are good role models because they help the poor and raise public awareness of anti-bullying.For example, my favorite singer and actor Jackson yi. He played a role in the movie “better you”. The movie is about school bullying, suggesting that all the people including teenagers and adults, teachers and parents should take this problem seriously. It is a successful and positive movie. Plus, life will not shield children from the horrors that do exist in the world. Celebrities that make some mistakes are not different from any other human being.

I don’t think celebrities are good examples for young people. Even though they might seem good in public, they have their habits and sometimes their influence can affect many young children, leading them in the wrong direction. For example, reality TV show is dishonest. It pretends to show “reality”, but it actually twists the truth to suit the program. The shows are not really “real”. Instead, they are carefully cast to get a mix of “characters“. Mostly they show a bunch of young, good-looking self-publicists, who will do anything to get on TV. Selective editing may be used to create “storylines”. I think we should let the young people be who they really are, not teach them to be who are popular to the majority.

In my opinion, going to college at a suitable age is very important. Secondary students just finish their course about the basic knowledge such as the biology, mathematic and physics. They are more familiar with the subjects they are going to learn. It would be easier for them to make friends with their classmates. Considering all the benefits, applying to university after secondary school is the best choice.

I don’t think and only secondary school students should go to college. I think people in all ages should have the same rights to go back to school for further education. Older adults who want to apply for college often have clear goals and the motivation to achieve them. If a person fails in a game because of any difficulties, he/she has to try to start again because they do not want to give up their entire hard work building of an athletic career. Second, practice makes the man perfect. I totally agree with this statement. Working is the key factor to pursue happiness. Many studies have revealed that the most consistent factor for career happiness is having an engaging work. I do not agree with this idea. I think job is just a small part of people’s life. You can and should find enjoyment in your work. Doing so is very valuable to your life in many ways, including greatly increasing your probability of financial success. But we don’t have to love, or even like our overall job to enjoy everyday aspects of it. When we talk about happiness, we are talking about the happy moments, like when we are staying with our family, when we are hugging the one we love. What’s more, there are many other definitions of happiness, such as the healthy body, the happy hour when we are travelling. Happiness is the right that everyone can pursue. It is not about the single aspect of our daily life.

I agree with the statement. Organized sport has many psychological and social benefits for children. When they’re playing sport,like football game, children learn to lose. Playing in a team helps children to develop many of the social skills they will need for life. It teaches them to cooperate, to be less selfish, and to listen to other children. An important part of playing in a team is accepting discipline. Playing sport means children are expected to follow rules, accept decisions and understand that they could be penalised for bad behaviour. Like in a football game, they have to obey the rules during game.

I don’t think so. Team sports require everyone in the group to have skills, fitness and dedication to perform well. Success doesn't always correlate to individual skill or work ethic, something that can frustrate players who feel they are doing more than their teammates to achieve a shared goal. Sometimes kids will have to play with teammates they just don't like. And if players on a team don't get along, team performance can suffer. The same is true if teams break into cliques; while team sports can build a feeling of community, it can be hard for a player who feels left out of the group. If so, kids may feel upset and frustrated.

I am all for this idea. Robotics are becoming a cheap and efficient source of labor. Machines have been replacing many dangerous or boring human jobs, allowing people to leave the labor industry and start working in more artistic and intellectual fields. In addition, Business owners also favor robots compared to humans, as machines produce more consistent and accurate results at lower costs. I don’t think robots can replace people for many types of work in the future.Robots or artifical intelligence has many disadvantages.If an AI-based diagnosis fails to detect the actual illness of the patient, who would be held responsible for it , the programmer or the artificial intelligence itself? On the other hand, human resources are quite affordable and reliable. Robots have no sense of emotions or conscience and do not have decision-making abilities to handle difficult situations. Robots need a large capital, maintenance, power, while humans do not. Humans are the ones who develop new ideas and have the potential to turn imagination into reality. Jobs in health and scientific cannot be completely taken over by robots.
