今天总结托福考试中出现的鸟类知识~

下面学习具有代表性的几种鸟类~

hummingbird  蜂鸟

nectar  花蜜  

beak  鸟喙  

pollinate  授粉

Hummingbird has long beak, so it drinks a lot of nectar from flowers. 

由于蜂鸟有着细长的鸟喙，所以很适合汲取花蜜。

albatross  信天翁

glide  滑翔

Albatross’ long wings allow it to glide or float on the wind.

信天翁的长翅膀让它滑翔或漂浮于风中。

eagle / hawk  鹰

carnivore  食肉动物   

spot prey  发现猎物

Hawks have such good eyesight that they can spot a tiny mouse in the field from high up in the air.

magpie  喜鹊

bird of paradise  极乐鸟 / 天堂鸟    

plumage  羽毛

A male bird of paradise displays his spectacular plumage to attract a female.

lay eggs  产卵 / 下蛋   

parenting behavior  照顾幼崽的行为 

In most bird species, both parents take care of the eggs and the young birds.

绝大部分的鸟类都是雄鸟和雌鸟一起照顾蛋和幼鸟。
