why you felt you had to be polite

and explain how you showed politeness

【老师点拨】

中国是一个nation of etiquette（礼仪之邦），我们可以选择把上面的题目与Describe a time when someone visited your home和Describe an unusual meal you had这两个题目结合起来，谈论table manners（餐桌礼仪）。

P.S. 中国人说话含蓄，辞藻丰富；而外国人喜欢直截了当，逻辑清晰。所以，我们需要用时间点的变化来引导故事的情节发展。

【答题框架】

☆ Before the dishes were served on the table（开饭之前）

a.The guest was arranged to sit on the “main seat”.  要让客人坐在“主位”上。

b.We were not allowed to start eating before the guest.  客人动筷之前，我们不能先吃。

☆ During the meal（吃饭的时候）

a.We needed to toast to the guest with blessings.  敬酒时说一些祝福语。

b.Our glasses should be lower than his/hers.  我们的杯子要比客人的杯子低。

☆ After finishing eating（饭后）

We served tea and prepared some fruits for the guest. 饭后要准备茶和水果。
