TASK 1

Your local community center wants to add some new workshops or programs for children. Which of the following do you think would be most beneficial for children’s development?

A. Art craft workshop

B. Technology workshop

C. Athletic programs 

I think athletic programs work best. I have two reasons for this.

The first reason is that it is good for students’ health, because recently students are under tremendous academic pressure. They can hardly spare any time to exercise regularly. Through these programs, they may build up muscle and boost metabolism. They will be less likely to be affected by diseases like bad cold.

The second reason is that students can unwind, because they can enjoy doing diverse kinds of sports instead of thinking about boring assignments and time-consuming term paper. With their mind refreshed, they will be more efficient in dealing with academic subjects.

TASK 2

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? When visiting a new country, people should know its culture and custom.

I agree with this statement with two reasons.

The first reason is that it will help you avoid a lot of troubles, For example, if you eat pork in Muslin countries such as Iran, you will leave local people a very bad first impression. Pork is unclean according to their culture. Most importantly, you will have trouble enjoying your stay there, because you are not welcomed in their country with your misbehavior.

The second reason is that you can widen your horizon, because you are going to learn the knowledge you never heard about before. For instance, in India, when people nod, they actually want to express their disapproval. Similarly, when they shake their heads, they want to show their approval. In this way we can better avoid misunderstanding when travelling in India.
